September's Element of Wellness is Resilience
Bouncing Forward: Treatment Approaches to Enhance Resilience Following Trauma
A 3 CEU seminar presented by SLU professor and trauma expert, Gary U. Behrman, PhD, MSW, M.Div., LCSW
Resilience is “the ability to bounce forward.” Whether recovering from cancer, divorce, job loss, tours of duty, domestic violence, or the death of a loved one, we seek to understand and know what helps us to “bounce forward.” We will explore this together, discovering strategies that are future orientated and will enable us to help heal those struggling through their trauma.
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will:
1. Understand research findings that outline the clinical/biological effects of trauma,
2. Identify characteristics and traits associated with positive outcomes that enhance resilience,
3. Apply best practices that facilitate resilience and improve health outcomes following trauma.
