The Elements of Wellness Workshop Series

This month, we focus on the role of Mindfulness in evidence-based therapies like ACT . . .

ACT gig of war

Stop the Tug-of-War

~ Do your clients seem to be losing at tug-of-war with their anxious or depressed thoughts and feelings?

~ Are they constantly being pulled down into avoidant behaviors?

~ Have you tried helping the client challenge those anxious and depressed thoughts only to find yourself more and more frustrated?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based “third wave” behavioral treatment for depression, anxiety, substance abuse, stress, and numerous other psychological problems. To date it is supported by almost 200 clinical trials (and growing rapidly). ACT teaches people to stop fighting with their difficult thoughts, feelings, sensations, and memories. Instead, they learn to accept them as natural phenomenon, build mindfulness skills, identify core personal values, and commit to behaviors that are consistent with those values.

In addition to lunch and 3 CEUs, participants in this workshop will learn what sets ACT apart from other behavioral therapies and how acceptance can lead to value-driven behaviors.

At the end of this training, participants will have a basic understanding of ACT and be able to:

  • Identify the six domains of human suffering and psychological flexibility

  • Summarize the integration of the ACT model

  • Identify interventions consistent with an ACT framework

  • Begin helping clients engage in values-based behavior change strategies

$40, includes 3 CEUs AND Lunch

Please arrive 15-20 minutes early to register, grab your meal and settle in.  The program will begin promptly at 12pm.
